Natural immunity:

Another aspect of the vaccine rollout which ran counter to basic understanding of immunology, was the question of naturally acquired immunity. In 2020, many statements were made expressing uncertainty about whether or how long natural immunity would last - but of course these questions were all even more applicable to the vaccines. Israel followed a similar vaccine rollout as the UK in terms of starting with the oldest and working downwards but giving priority also to those with specific co-morbidities. One major difference was that initially they excluded those who had already had proven SARS-CoV-2 infection, only giving them a single dose of vaccine once the infection naive members of the population had received their first two doses. This allowed an excellent opportunity to compare subsequent infection rates of those post infection and those following vaccination.37 A similar study from the US,38 confirmed that a previous SARS-CoV-2 infection provided excellent immunity.

The group most clearly at risk are those whose were neither ‘convalescent’ nor vaccinated. The next highest rate of infection was seen in those who had never had Covid but who had been vaccinated and the lowest infection rate was in those who had already been infected regardless of their vaccination status. Thus, it is clearly a waste of public money and health service time to vaccinate everyone regardless of their immune status.

Moreover, there have been several papers showing that adverse events are higher when vaccinating post infection and this dangerous practice may have contributed to staffing shortages in the health and care sector.39,40

Prevention of infection and transmission:

Much of the push to vaccinate children, stemmed from the suggestion that this would help protect older more vulnerable members of their family and the wider community. This is where not only science but also ethics collapsed. When involving children in research, it is required by international law that the treatment or procedure must be potentially for the child’s benefit.41 Moreover, the trials were never designed to look at reduction in infection and it was soon apparent that those with break-through infections had a similar viral load regardless of their vaccination status.42 Whereas vaccination may give a short term reduction in viral load, this wanes rapidly by 70 days post-dose, but for the unvaccinated and recovered there is a more prolonged effect.43 But long after it was obvious that the vaccinated were still catching Covid, shrill calls continued for the unvaccinated to be either mandated as in the care and health sector (no jab, no job) or excluded from civilised society, being barred in many countries from theatres, shops or travel or even entering the house of a friend or relative. In Austria, a law was passed to force vaccination on the entire adult population, non-compliance punishable by hefty fines or even imprisonment. At the time of writing, the US will still not allow unvaccinated travellers to enter the country.

For children, NHS advertisements are particularly unethical, and reminiscent of the ‘Don’t Kill Your Granny’ calls for masks and distancing.
